Welcome!

I’m Layne Anspach - a musician and educator based out of Southern Indiana.

Each musical journey starts with the support and passion of those around them. For me, an encouraging family and wonderful musical opportunities fostered my love for music from a young age.

With parents who have teaching backgrounds, teaching has always been a part of my life. I have taught beginner horn players to advanced college students. I am currently a Lecturer of Music (Chamber Music) at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

Music is the social act of communication among people, a gesture of friendship, the strongest there is.

- Sir Malcolm Arnold

Possessing a diverse chamber music background, I currently manage and perform with Ivory Winds, a piano and wind ensemble. I am also a founding member of 10° Trio, a horn, trombone, and piano trio. As a recitalist, I strive to perform a mix of new and familiar works, providing a dialogue that engages audience members with the context and history of each work. I have performed dozens of unique recitals across the United States.

While not on stage, I enjoy researching under appreciated works and instrumentations, providing a historical context for when and how they were composed. This interest has been the been the foundation of lecturers at international conferences and a monthly contribution to Horn and More, the International Horn Society’s newsletter.

Sincerely,

LA
