Welcome!
I’m Layne Anspach - a musician and educator based out of Southern Indiana.
Each musical journey starts with the support and passion of those around them. For me, an encouraging family and wonderful musical opportunities fostered my love for music from a young age.
I completed a Bachelors of Music at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, studying under Richard Seraphinoff. Following my time at IU, I earned a Masters of Music degree at The Ohio State University, studying with Bruce Henniss. With the goal of completing a terminal degree, I started a Doctor of Music degree at the Jacobs School of Music in 2017 and plan to complete this degree in the Summer of 2021.
As a performer, I enjoy various performance mediums. Since 2018, I have held the position of 4th horn with the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra and have performed regularly as a substitute in other Indiana orchestras. I strive to participate with diverse chamber ensembles: brass quintet, wind quintet, horn trio (horn, violin, piano), and horn quartet, to name a few. Starting from a young age, I have had a keen interest to perform as a soloist. As the featured soloist in 2010, I performed the third movement of R. Strauss’ Horn Concerto No. 1 with the Elkhart County Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, I have performed numerous solo recitals.
With two parents who have teaching backgrounds, teaching has always been a part of my life. I have taught beginner horn players to advanced college aged students. I maintain a private studio in Bloomington, IN and am always open to teaching new students! Contact me if you are interested in horn or brass instrumental lessons.
